Selection process
In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya the "HR Excellence in Research" designation, which ensures that candidates are selected solely based on criteria of excellence. Furthermore, since 2016, we have held the European Commission’s "Human Resources Strategy for Research" (HRS4R) seal. This designation publicly recognizes institutions that have made progress in aligning their human resources policies—improving employment and working conditions for teaching and research staff—thereby enhancing the appeal of academic and scientific careers.
The selection process at UIC Barcelona includes:
Pre-selection Phase: An independent committee, composed of both internal and external experts, will evaluate all applications received. Its role is to identify the candidates who best match the required profile and to determine who will advance to the next stage of the process.
Evaluation Panel Phase: Finalist candidates will be required to deliver a public oral presentation before an evaluation panel. This panel consists of two external faculty members and one internal member. The presentation must cover the candidate’s academic background—including research, teaching, and management experience. Following the presentation, the panel will ask questions to complete the evaluation. The total duration of this session will be 60 minutes.
Supplementary Evaluation Phase:
Top-ranked candidates will proceed to a second stage, which may consist of an interview with members of the Faculty Board or a research seminar. In any case, candidates will be notified well in advance.
