About the Faculty of Dentistry

UIC Barcelona is considered one of the most prestigious universities internationally.

The Faculty of Dentistry has been ranked among the top two in Spain by El Mundo daily newspaper. It is also accredited by AQU Catalunya (Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency), with high quality accreditation for infrastructures, work plan and tutorial action plans. The Faculty of Dentistry is located on the University’s Sant Cugat Campus.

The Faculty of Dentistry aims to prepare its students as professionals who are capable of preventing, treating and rehabilitating patients with oral and dental diseases through good practices and high levels of skill. The programme’s solid academic basis is complemented by intensive practical sessions at the University Dental Clinic.

 

 

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a candidate who is strongly committed to teaching,
undertaking research projects and management tasks in the area of Restorative
Dentistry as part of a team of teachers and researchers in the Department of
Restorative Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry.

 

Key responsibilities

  • To lead departmental research projects. Coordinate research. Raise private and public funds.
  • To undertake research in Restorative Dentistry-related lines of research
  • To give bachelor’s and postgraduate lectures on the subject of Prosthodontics.
  • To supervise Final Degree Projects (TFG) and Final Master`s Degree Projects (TFM) in the area of Restorative Dentistry

 

Selection process

In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with a Human Resources Excellence in Research Award, which ensures that candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves:

  • An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
  • A public oral defence by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.

  • A tenure-track position (three years) with a mid-term evaluation (depending on the candidate’s profile, the position could become permanent).
  • A full or part-time contract (depending on the candidate), good working conditions in a dynamic and international scientific environment, flexible hours and research support.
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
  • The position will be located at the Faculty of Dentistry on our Sant Cugat Campus.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Dentistry and Experience in research in Restorative Dentistry
  • A good track record in research
  • Teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Spanish highly recommended
  • Community or homologated dentistry degree is needed.

Assessment criteria

The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated:

  • Particular attention will be paid to candidates with a research background in Restorative Dentistry with at least 8 JCR publications.
  • The ability to carry out independent research. Particular attention will be paid to candidates with experience as a principal investigator, as well as applicants who have made valuable contributions in terms of scientific productivity as part of a research group led by another researcher.
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Experience in academic management
  • A long-term commitment to the University
  • Knowledge transfer
  • Knowledge of Spanish will be valued.
