About UIC Barcelona

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a candidate in the area of Regenerative Medicine with a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, preferably with expertise in biomaterials, cell therapy, extracellular vesicles/exosomes, or advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs), who will be required to teach the following areas of knowledge: Biomaterial Characterization, Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering.

Additional requirements:
The candidate must have demonstrated experience in animal experimentation and hold the relevant certification for animal testing. Experience in outreach activities and outreach management, as well as in the coordination and management of multidisciplinary teams, will be highly valued.

 

As R3 you will have the backing of the support program for the stabilization of postdoctoral research personnel of the Department of Research of the Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya (ESTAB)

 

Selection Process

In May 2018, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya was awarded the HR Excellence in Research Award (EURAXESS), ensuring that candidates are selected exclusively based on excellence criteria. Since 2016, the University has also been aligned with the HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Research) of the European Commission, recognizing institutions that improve working conditions and career development for research and teaching staff.

The selection process includes:

  • Pre-selection Phase: An independent committee, composed of internal and external experts, will assess all applications to identify candidates who best match the required profile.
  • Evaluation Panel Phase: Final candidates will deliver a public oral presentation before a panel consisting of two external academics and one internal member. The presentation (60 minutes total) should cover the candidate’s academic trajectory, including research, teaching, and management. Candidates may also be asked in advance to deliver a 20-minute lecture on a specific topic.
  • Competency Assessment Phase: Organized by the Faculty Board, this phase evaluates transversal and personal competencies of the two finalists through tailored activities.
  • Final Decision Phase: Final selection and communication of results

 

We Offer

tenure-track (TT) position. Upon successful completion of the agreed objectives and conditions, the candidate will be appointed as a tenured Associate Professor at UIC Barcelona, in accordance with the University’s academic regulations.

 

Salary

The starting salary will depend on the candidate’s profile and experience. During the tenure-track period, performance in research, teaching, and service will be evaluated based on agreed objectives, with the possibility of additional compensation. Upon successful completion, the candidate will obtain a permanent position with salary aligned with current scales and their academic experience.

Requirements

The candidate must have:

The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated:

  • Excellent track record of publications
  • Participation in funded research projects AQU or ANECA (or similar) accreditation, or be able to apply for it and obtain it in a short period of time.
  • Proven record of effective teaching.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to get involved in one of the Faculty’s lines of research.
  • Ability to supervise and guide both undergraduate and graduate students in
    their research projects.
