What we are looking for

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences has begun a recruitment and selection process to hire teaching and research staff. We are looking for someone with a PhD in management technology, computer science or digital management who would like to contribute to teaching and research activities in the field of technology and digital management.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the education of both bachelor’s and master’s degree students and must have a proven track record of effective teaching in English. Strong research and writing skills with experience carrying out empirical research, and strong team player skills will be looked upon favourably.

Courses might include (but are not limited to): Technology, Information Systems, Digital management, Digital Transformation or Computational Thinking.

Selection process

In May 2018, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya received recognition from EURAXESS through a Human Resources Excellence in Research Award which ensures that candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves:

  • An independent committee of experts who evaluate applications and decide which candidates will go on to the next stage. All the members of the committee are from outside the UIC Barcelona community.
  • An oral public defence by finalists: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and research projects. Following this presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.

What we offer

  • A full-time contract in a dynamic, international and scientific environment in the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at UIC Barcelona (Barcelona Campus). A part-time contract may be negotiated.
  • A tenure-track (four-year) position with a mid-term evaluation (depending on the applicant’s profile, the position may automatically become permanent).
  • A competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Full relocation assistance and financial support for the candidate’s research (in accordance with the experience of the candidate).
  • Start date: September 2022 (date is negotiable).

Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • A PhD in a field related to the position
  • A minimum of four years of postdoctoral experience
  • A minimum of 480 hours of teaching experience with good results in terms of student satisfaction

Assessment criteria

Two main aspects of the applicant’s CV will be taken into consideration:

  • We expect the candidate to be able to design and lead their own group and research projects independently.
  • Proven record of effective teaching

Other aspects considered in the application will be:

  • Active in involvement in teaching innovation practices
  • Proficiency in oral and written English
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and guide bachelor’s and undergraduate students in their research projects
