What we’re looking for

The Department of Applied Linguistics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer of EFL Teacher Education to carry out teaching, academic and administration activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and contribute to the GRAM Research Group on our Sant Cugat campus:

More specifically, the group carries out applied linguistics research on:

  • The effects of Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education (ICLHE), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction on linguistic development.
  • Social interaction and its affordances for teaching, learning and teacher development in ICLHE / CLIL / EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) contexts.
  • The acquisition and maintenance of Catalan, Spanish, foreign and heritage languages in school-age children and adults in the context of Catalonia.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To develop and/or lead research in the areas of TEFL, EFL Teacher Education, CLIL, ICLHE and closely-related areas
  • To publish articles in high-impact journals
  • To work as part of a team preparing and presenting research projects
  • To provide quality education to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of EFL Teaching Methods and EFL Teacher Education
  • To lead and/or coordinate programmes as well as any other type of academic task assigned by the Department
  • To teach English for specific purposes and follow ICLHE methodology in the field of sciences in the Sant Cugat Campus

Essential criteria

  • Track record of research output/scholarly publication
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research and contribute to research projects and groups in terms of scientific productivity.
  • University-level experience in teaching EFL Teacher Education modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Experience in teaching, curriculum design and coordination in CLIL/ ICLHE or content-based teaching approaches.

 

Desirable

  • Experience of programme and curriculum management
  • Experience in teaching health sciences-related content and research methodology at third level
  • Pre-doctoral and/or post-doctoral fellowships
  • National and/or international research stays
  • International research collaboration
  • Participation in funded research projects and research groups
  • Academic awards and recognitions
  • Official accreditation by AQU or ANECA
  • Official recognition of research activity by AQU or ANECA
  • A history of positive student evaluations
  • Experience in academic and administrative management and leadership (graduate and postgraduate student supervision, coordination and curriculum design of health science content-based courses)

 

Competences
