About your role

The Group of Evaluation of Health Determinants and Health Policies of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) is looking for a research assistance to undertake a PhD within our research group. The team works on a wide variety of research, including tobacco control, screen exposure’ health effects on pediatric population, or mental health and addictions.

Key tasks

The research assistant is expected to work on a specific project regarding the special vulnerability of homelessness women in terms of mental health and addiction, with a public health perspective. The PhD is expected to be defined within this project. Moreover, collaborations with other works carried out in the research team are also expected. 

Duties will include:

  • Develop a PhD research project leading to a doctoral degree
  • Support the research group in research activities, (designing, analyzing, and interpreting results)
  • Teaching biostatistics subjects in health-related degrees

The research assistant is expected to develop proficiency in relevant literature in this research area, be involved in the preparation of first-and co-authored manuscripts, make presentations at professional meetings, teach undergraduate students, developing academic content and teaching practical sessions.

  • A full-time predoctoral contract (exclusive dedication) in the Department of Basic Sciences at UIC Barcelona, renewable for 3 years, starting from the date you are hired as a member of our research staff
  • Gross annual amount: 16347 (first year) – 17328 (last year)

Requirements

JOBS REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Psychology, Biomedicine, Biology, or other health related degrees.
  • Recently graduated or about to finish a University Master’s Degree in Statistics, Psychology, Public Health, Biology, Biomedicine, or other health related degrees.
  • Advanced knowledge in statistics, biostatistics, and epidemiology.
  • Programming skills in at least one statistical software (R, Python, Stata, etc.).
  • Good writing and communication skills in English.
