About your role

You will be joining the group of Dr Roni Wright. During this period, you will develop a thesis project researching the mechanism of cancer stem cell growth and their role in breast cancer metastasis. As part of this research line you will acquire new knowledge in skills in basic molecular biology, 2D and 3D cell culture, phenotypic assays as well as global genomics experiments and bioinformatic analysis. You will actively participate in research design, analyses, and interpretation. You will also teach undergraduate students, developing academic content and teaching practical sessions.

What will you do

• Develop a PhD research project leading to a doctoral degree researching cancer stem biology in aggressive breast cancer
• Write up your own research for improving knowledge on the possible next steps in advancing the research and understanding of the
• Support the research group in research activities, (designing, analysing, and interpreting results)
• Teaching at an undergraduate level in health degree programmes developing academic content and teaching practical sessions in this area
• Attend seminars, National and International conferences on cancer biology, breast cancer research and gene

To bear in mind

1. People who have met the requirements to access the doctoral programme at the time they are hired can participate in the call (according to what is set out in article 6 of Royal Decree 99/2011).
2. On the date the contract starts, candidates must be enrolled on a doctoral programme and must not have been awarded any other pre-doctoral contract for a period of more than 12

We offer 

• A full-time predoctoral contract (exclusive dedication) in the Department of Basic Sciences at UIC Barcelona, renewable for 3 years, not extendible further, starting from the date you are hired as a member of our research staff in
• The gross annual amount for the contract is the same as that stipulated in article 7 of Royal Decree 103/2019.
