About UIC Barcelona:

The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) founded in 1997, is a private foundation and has its own legal status. As a non-profit institution, our university aims to provide a service to society by undertaking teaching and research activities aimed at professional capacitation and the scientific, cultural and human education of students, as well as undertaking activities to promote culture. 

 

Today, the university encompasses eight faculties in addition to the Doctorate School.  The academic programs offered by UIC Barcelona include a total of 15 Bachelor´s Degrees and a wide range of official and professional masters and postgraduate courses. In all of them, UIC offers a highly personalized education with a strong vocational element. The international character of the university is a basic feature and a necessary one for students. This campus is also home to the Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Policies, the Institute for Advanced Family Studies, the Institute for Multilingualism and the Doctorate School.

The Sant Cugat Campus is home to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Dentistry. Situated inside the grounds of the Hospital General de Catalunya. Practical experience, particularly on this campus, forms the basis of successful learning. This campus is also home to the University Institute for Patient Care and the Bioengineering Institute of Technology.

 

In October 2016, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya signed the "European Charter for Researchers" and the "Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers" with the aim of encouraging and improving the recruitment of researchers and demonstrating its commitment to this European Commission initiative. What we are looking for:

The purpose of this call is to hire one senior postdoctoral researcher to promote the internationalisation of research at UIC Barcelona.

 

The Research Group in Iron Metabolism: Regulation and Diseases is a senior interdisciplinary group with extensive experience in translational medicine in the field of iron metabolism and in the study of other hereditary haematological diseases. The purpose of the group is to increase knowledge of iron metabolism, its regulation and associated diseases, and to promote the diagnosis of hereditary haematological diseases. To this end, the spin-off BLOODGENETICS SL (www.bloodgenetics.com) was created in November 2016.

Requisitos

Requirements

 

Potential candidates must meet the following requirements (please do not apply if you do not fulfil the requirements):

  • PhD in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or similar
  • Certify a stay in a university or research centre outside of Spain (minimum 2 years).
  • Good CV with at least four publications as first author in important recognized research journal Impact Factor>6 and Q1
  • Proven postdoctoral experience of more than 4 years in Genetics, RNA Biology, Iron Metabolism or non-oncological Haematology.

 

Requirements that will be considered as a plus:

  • Accreditation Lector by AQU or accreditation “Profesor contratado doctor” by ANECA
  • Attendance to international congresses with oral presentations
  • Direction or co-direction of Research projects including Marie Curie Individual Fellowships or similar.

Main Responsibilities

The selected person will:

Work on the project ARETHA and related projects for the study of Iron metabolism and RNA Biology.

Coordinate graduate, master and PhD students.

Help with new projects application for the group.

 

Characteristics of the contract

  • Indefinite contract associated to research projects.
  • Starting date 1st June 2024 (Not possible to delay).
  • The researcher's gross annual salary will be on according to UIC salaries or negotiable depending on candidate qualities.
  • The researcher will be supported to attend courses and conferences.
