About the Physiotherapy Department
The Physiotherapy Department in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, offers
a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, three Master’s Degrees and a number of continuing education courses. Also, it is characterized by the fact it undertakes innovative teaching and research projects through a senior research group and
different focuses of research.
Our department is developing different strategies to adapt the academic curriculum of
our physical therapy degree and our areas of research to the needs of the present
society. This mission is supported and reinforced by the nature of our campus, which
is consisting of six different degrees belonging to health sciences. This academic
environment gives lecturers and researchers the possibility to develop their careers in
an excellent standard.

 

What we are looking for
This call is focused on the specialization of manual and musculoskeletal
physiotherapy., with a significant curriculum in the areas of education and research.

Clinical experience in manual and musculoskeletal area is also another considerable
requirement. Supplementary merits include grants or the achievement of previous
competitive calls, obtention of a PhD with the highest score, or with an international
mention, or and industrial doctorate.

What we offer

  • Tenure Track: A 3-year tenure-track position with an evaluation of the candidate at 18 months.

  • Post-Tenure Appointment: Upon successful completion of the tenure-track period and fulfillment of all agreed-upon objectives and conditions, the candidate will be appointed to a permanent faculty position at UIC Barcelona.

  • Faculty Status: Once the permanent position is granted, the faculty member's status will be governed by UIC Barcelona's prevailing regulations for teaching and research staff (PDI).

  • Salary: Competitive, based on the candidate's qualifications.

  • Research and Teaching Support: UIC Barcelona is committed to supporting the professor's teaching and research activities. The faculty member may receive funding to attend one national or international conference per year, up to a maximum of €1,500 gross annually, reimbursable upon submission of receipts.

  • The position will be located at UIC Barcelona, in the Department of Physiotherapy.
  • Start date: to be negotiated with the candidate. The desired start date would be as
    close as possible to 1st November 2025.

Selection process

In May 2018, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) was awarded the HR Excellence in Research distinction by the European Commission. This recognition ensures that candidates are selected solely based on excellence criteria. Furthermore, since 2016, UIC Barcelona has been part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) initiative, which aims to publicly acknowledge institutions that have made significant progress in aligning their human resources policies to enhance employment and working conditions for teaching and research staff, thereby contributing to the attractiveness of academic and scientific careers. 

UIC Barcelona's selection process includes the following phases:

  • Pre-selection Phase: An independent committee, comprising both internal and external experts to UIC Barcelona, evaluates all received applications. Their role is to identify candidates who best fit the desired profile and determine who will advance to the next phase.

  • Evaluation by the Selection Committee: Finalist candidates are required to deliver a public oral presentation before an evaluation committee consisting of two external faculty members and one internal member. The presentation should cover their academic trajectory, including research, teaching, and management. Following the presentation, the committee will pose questions to complete the assessment. The total duration of this defense will be 60 minutes. In some cases, candidates may be asked in advance to deliver a 20-minute lecture on a specific topic during this phase.

  • Competency Evaluation Phase: This phase is coordinated by the Centre Board, which will organize a specific session aimed at assessing the transversal and personal competencies of the two finalists. The design of the activities will be tailored to the candidates' profiles and communicated in advance by the Board.

  • Resolution Phase: Final selection and communication of the outcome to the candidates.

Requisitos

Requirements
A Bachelor in Physiotherapy.
A PhD in Physiotherapy or health sciences.

Assessment criteria
The most important requirement is for candidates to have a demonstrable track
record in research of manual and musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Other potential
criteria include:
 Demonstrable experience of academic management.
 Solid experience of degree-level teaching (It would be highly advantageous if the
candidate has teaching experience at masters or postgraduate level.).
 Advanced knowledge of innovative teaching methodologies.
 Advance knowledge of English language.
 Demonstrable clinical experience by manual and musculoskeletal physiotherapy
procedures.
 Proven ability to lead and contribute to multidisciplinary projects and collaborative
teams.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
 For non-Spanish candidates, knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish will be
considered an asset.
 A commitment to the university in the long-term.

Salary

Should you be selected for the position, you will be offered a full-time exclusive dedication contract, initiating a tenure track agreement of three years, extendable by an additional year. The starting salary will vary depending on your profile and experience. Throughout the tenure track period, you will engage in research, teaching, and institutional service activities, with initially agreed-upon objectives. Achievement of these objectives may result in salary supplements. Upon successful completion of the tenure track and attainment of the objectives, you will be appointed to the position  with a salary corresponding to the current salary scales and your teaching and research experience.
