In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with a Human Resources Excellence in Research Award, which ensures that
candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves:

  • An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
  • A public oral defense by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects.
  • Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defense. The defense should last a total of 60 minutes.
