The Faculty of Communication Sciences at UIC Barcelona is seeking to appoint a Senior PhD Professor specializing in communication management, organizational communication, and institutional relations.

We are looking for a candidate with a well-established academic career and extensive executive experience in communication agencies or corporate communication departments within large companies or institutions. The successful candidate should bring a strong professional network, in-depth knowledge of public administration, and proven expertise in crisis communication, reputation management, and sustainability. The role aims to strengthen the Faculty’s strategic positioning and enhance students’ employability.

Selection Process

In May 2018, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya was awarded the HR Excellence in Research Award (EURAXESS), ensuring that candidates are selected exclusively based on excellence criteria. Since 2016, the University has also been aligned with the HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Research) of the European Commission, recognizing institutions that improve working conditions and career development for research and teaching staff.

The selection process includes:

  • Pre-selection Phase: An independent committee, composed of internal and external experts, will assess all applications to identify candidates who best match the required profile.
  • Evaluation Panel Phase: Final candidates will deliver a public oral presentation before a panel consisting of two external academics and one internal member. The presentation (60 minutes total) should cover the candidate’s academic trajectory, including research, teaching, and management. A Q&A session will follow. Candidates may also be asked in advance to deliver a 20-minute lecture on a specific topic.
  • Competency Assessment Phase: Organized by the Faculty Board, this phase evaluates transversal and personal competencies of the two finalists through tailored activities.
  • Final Decision Phase: Final selection and communication of results
